LTP in Cooperation with UN

October 2019

LTP enters cooperation with the UN on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

INDUSTRY GAME CHANGER THROUGH SDG PROGRAM

We are all part of an industry where CSR has been on the agenda for decades. At our factories, the conditions are well controlled, but in many other areas you will still find sewers working under non-secure and non-dignified work environments. Unfortunately, millions of sewers still live in poverty, and transparency in the industry is low. LTP takes great pride in joining the SDG Accelerator Program, in order to develop new opportunities and standards aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Respect & Transparency

Respect for universal human rights is good business - not only an ethical imperative. As more consumers push for proof that the clothes they buy fulfill the promise of the label, transparency and decent working conditions is becoming a key differentiator that sets successful brands apart.

CSR has been on the agenda for brands and retailers in decades. But the problems are not solved yet. We have asked CCO in LTP, Alex Ingildsen why: “Because transparency is very low in the industry. No consumers fully understand under which conditions a product is made. This is why LTP has joined the SDG Accelerator Program, in order to develop new opportunities and standards to make us stand out in the crowd and provide actions in affected areas”.

Since 2018 LTP has been part of the ‘SDG Accelerator Program’, which aims at accelerating Danish companies’ work with developing new business, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. CCO Alex Ingildsen points out the obvious benefits of entering this program: “In the SDG Accelerator process, LTP will receive guidance and a comprehensive method to develop new products, services or business models that address the challenges embedded in the SDG’s.”

And LTP’s ambitions are high when it comes to CSR, and thus several Goals are identified to further work with:

1. NO POVERTY

3. GOOD HEALTH & WELL-BEING

4. QUALITY EDUCATION

8.    DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

12.  RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION & PRODUCTION

LTP already pay a premium salary compared to country and area, and also offers extended healthcare insurance for their workers. But with help from this program, LTP can further exceed industry standards through following steps:

  • Promote sustainable innovation and develop at least one SDG solution, be it a product, service or business model.
  • Use sustainable innovation as a basis for creating a broader understanding of how companies can work with social and environmental sustainability, both locally and globally.
  • Create a model that can inspire companies outside the programme to get started with integrating the SDGs in their business.

CCO Alex Ingildsen is not doubting: “This is worth the effort. We believe we can change. Soon we will be able to present the outcome of our hard work with this program, and without saying too much – we believe it can be an industry game changer!”
