Vollebak inspires the latest innovation at the LTP Group
Introducing the transformer coat; the latest development crafted in LTP’s innovation lab
Working with arguably the most innovative adventure sportswear brand Vollebak, pushes the LTP team to imagine the future of outdoor performance.
Straight from LTP’s R&D incubator, the new transformer coat is the latest technically-experimental development to emerge.
With this development the LTP team aim to push the boundaries and create their new vision of the urban uniform with city survival elements. Longevity, adaptability and versatility are guiding principles. The team use state-of-the-art technologies, cutting edge materials and innovative manufacturing techniques.
Here, Alex Ingildsen, CCO at LTP, fabric sourcing & innovation manager Laura Didžiokienė and designer/trend forecaster Chantell Fenton discuss the latest techniques and innovations exhibited on this forward-thinking style which is strategically designed and crafted to inspire the next-generation of apparel.
The Innovative Design
Created and crafted by the talented in-house team, the coat was designed by expert Laura Didžiokienė and completed by experienced in-house pattern-sampling technologist Edita Kaluževičienė. The coat is an example of the creativity and craftsmanship which the LTP Group’s innovation centres in Vietnam and Lithuania are renowned for.
The whole jacket is glued with bonded seams using Bemis SP110 clear seam tape for a clean-cut stitch-free finish. The style features lasercut perforation to create maximum ventilation for peak-to-pavement adventures. Further enhanced by strategically positioned under-arm zippers. Functionality is key with a multitude of cleverly positioned hidden pockets.
As consumers look to buy-less-but-better, demand for versatility and hybrid designs intensifies. For this reason, the transformer jacket features zip-off and removable panels which offer multiple end-uses. The jacket can be worn as a blazer as well as a coat. The cuffs and flaps are secured with bonded Shimada RC metal magnets instead of studs to further enhance the clean-cut, high-tech look.
Finished with Nyguard’s latest recycled 2-way open-ended zipper, dubbed Ny2Life. Arguably one of the most sustainable zippers on the market as all the zip components are made from a mono-material which is easier to recycle and enables a circular economy. The tape, teeth, slider and puller are all made from nylon. The jacket is complete with Rudholm’s newest shoulder pads which are featherlight, almost invisible and glued for a sophisticated finish.
The Innovative Fabric
To service the urban commuter, the coat is crafted in Sensitive® Fabrics by Eurojersey, a patented warp-knit fabrics' range exclusively produced in Italy. The technical spec of Sensitive® bonded fabric is 73% PA 27% EA, weighing 250gr/m2. The jacket debuted at the September 2020 edition of Milano Unica fair at the Eurojersey booth.
The highly technical 2-layer Sensitive® bonded fabric is inspired by urban casual-wear with both dynamic stretch for ease-of-movement and impressive structural hold which is non-deformable over time. The fabric also boasts anti-crease, easy-care, wrinkle-free and abrasion resistant qualities.
Treated with a DWR finish the coat can stand-up to the elements with superior weatherproofing, as well as quick-dry and breathable qualities.
The production of all Sensitive® Fabrics' collection only by Eurojersey follows sustainability criteria in terms of reduction of water, energy, chemical and waste.
To further enhance the urban look, it is possible to achieve a worn-out or stone-washed look on this technical fabric with a delavè finish, which will appeal to consumers that cherish the lived-in look.
